The Rabbitry

Our Continental Giants

We first stumbled across Continental Giants while on the search for good British Giant stock, and, quite frankly, we fell in love. They are lovely big, cuddly rabbits-true gentle giants.  I feel that they make a great house rabbit and it's easy to see why more and more people ae choosing to keep them instead of having a dog.

Chino (short for Pachino)~our first Haaskleur Continental Giant buck.  He really is our baby! You just can't help but fall in love will his sweet nature and his funny character. If only he could talk...He is always so excited to see you and just wants you to open the hutch door so he can fall into your arms (and he's no lightweight!) He just loves you  kissing  him  and will rub his head against yours. He tends to be in the house most days.

It is with a heavy heart that I write with sad news. Chino passed away on the 3rd of August 2009. He had lived to a good age for a conti (4 years) but still not long enough for me and will be very sorely missed. He was a lover right til the end and gently drifted off while in my arms-his head resting on my shoulder  and legs wrapped around me. His final resting place is right outside 'his' hutch where I can still say "nite Nugget" every night. This is one rabbit that could never be replaced. xx

Adam~he's a huge teddy bear! Our oldest brown-grey buck. He is so cuddly-he wont even attempt to eat his breakfast until he has had a hug. He just craves attention...there was only one way to take his picture that would do his personality justice!

Herman~ agouti buck, son of Pearl and Adam. Now here's a strapping young buck if ever I've seen one! He definitely has the personality of his Dad and craves attention.

Wednesday Adams~agouti doe. A beautiful young girl, daughter of Lucy, I just know this one is going to be special. She has been out to a couple of shows and is already making a good impression with the judges. Winning best Continental Giant at the London Championships 2009 and then going on to get her first Best in Show at the National Continental Giant Club Show.

Her soppy nature is most endearing...a real sweetie!! Only trouble is, she thinks I should be cuddling/carrying her around all the time and she's got far too heavy!
